Graduated in Chemical Engineer at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1983) holding a master degree in Production Engineering with emphasis in Transportation and Logistics at Federal University of Santa Catarina (1999) a doctorate degree In Public Policy and Development Strategies at Economics Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2014) .

Worked for Petrobras between 1984 to 2016. Inside the company obtained a graduation as a petroleum process engineer in the Petrobras Corporate University in Rio de Janeiro. He has worked in various areas and activities within the company. He worked 10 years in refineries, with environmental control, energy conservation and assets performance. Transferred to company headquarters, he continued dealing with economic evaluation, after which he returned to work in energy efficiency, coordinating Company’s corporate program. Because of his knowledge on use of energy in various forms, has begun to work in marketing, attached to final customer market, developing products and services related to natural gas and energy use. Lately, was designated director of two power trading companies of the Petrobras Group.

Over the years, he has kept close connection with academic activity, teaching courses in various disciplines in and out of the company, also coordinating some courses. He is frequently invited to participate in technical and scientific events on Brazil and abroad, also he has acted as a country or company representative on several occasions.

Approved in a public competition, after retiring from Petrobras, he was designated Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the State University of Rio de Janeiro in July 2016.

Nowadays he teaches on the following disciplines in the Environmental and Sanitation Engineering graduation program:

- Energy Planning and Renewable Resources (for senior students; main subject and responsability)

- Society and Environment (for fresh students)

- Chemistry X (general chemistry focused with an environmental approach for sophomores)

- Environmental Physical Chemistry (an environmental approach for junior students)

- Undergraduate thesis tutoring (for senior students)

- Mandatory internship supervision (for junior or senior students)
