With an investment of over €7.3 billion, the programme intends to support cutting-edge science, accelerate the EU's green and digital transitions, and enhance Europe's competitiveness. The Work Programme allocates 35% of the budget to climate action and 8.8% to biodiversity.

What's in it for LAC?

Eligibility to participate: Yes!

Horizon Europe, the European Union programme for research and innovation, is open to the world. Institutions from Latin American and Caribbean countries (called "third countries") can join most of Horizon Europe calls as part of a consortium comprised of:

• at least 1 partner from an EU member state and
• at least 2 additional partners from 2 other different countries coming either from EU member states and/or countries associated to Horizon Europe.

More about the eligibility to receive funding

LAC institutions are fully eligible to receive funding when participating in Horizon Europe calls, except for legal entities established in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama and Uruguay, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Saint Kitts and Navis, Trinidad and Tobago,  that are eligible to participate but not eligible to automatic funding by the European Commission (EC).
