WTDR-2012 and CTDR-2012 are Collocated Events with SBR/LARS 2012
http://www.sbr2012.org/ - October 15- 21, 2012 - Fortaleza, Brazil.

Call for Papers
***************
Important Dates:
July, 1: paper submission
August, 1: notification to authors
October 15- 21: SBR/LARS + CTDR/WTDR Conference and Workshops

About WTDR
**********

WTDR-2012 is satellite event of the Latin American Robotics Symposium
/ Brazilian Robotics Symposium 2012 of the Joint Conference 2012, ,
which will be held in UNIFOR, University of Fortaleza at Fortaleza,
Cear , Brazil, on October 15-21.
WTDR provides an opportunity for PhD and MSc students in Brazil to
present their ongoing and/or recently concluded research with a panel
of established researchers in Robotic. The workshop has the following
objectives:
# to provide a setting for mutual feedback on participants' current
research and guidance on future research directions;
# to develop a supportive community of scholars and a spirit of
collaborative research;
# to contribute to the conference goals through interaction of
graduate students with other researchers as well as participation in
conference events;
# to increase the visibility of ongoing work for the academic and
industrial community.

About CTDR
**********

CTDR-2012 will take place in parallel to WTDR-2012. The main goals of
CTDR are to divulge and award the best academic work in Robotics
concluded in Brazilian Universities from June 2010 to June 2012. CTDIA
expects papers with concluded work, with evaluation and results. The
selected works will be presented and judged during the SBR-2012.
Notice that in the submission phase, the main object of judgment is
the paper; while in the second one (during the conference), the main
object of judgment is the full thesis or dissertation (to be submitted
if the paper was accepted).

Topics of Interest
******************

WTDR/CTDR welcome research work in Robotic topics. They include but
are not limited to:
* Vision in robotics and automation;
* Symbol mediated robot behavior control;
* Sensory mediated robot behavior control;
* Active sensory processing and control;
* Industrial applications of autonomous systems;
* Sensor modeling and data interpretation e.g. models and software for
sensor data integration, 3D scene analysis, environment description
and modeling, pattern recognition;
* Robust techniques in AI and sensing e.g. uncertainty modeling,
graceful degradation of systems;
* Robot programming e.g. on-line and off-line programming, discrete
event dynamical systems, fuzzy logic;
* Multi-Robot and Multi-Agents, Cooperation and Collaboration;
* CAD-based robotics e.g. CAD-based vision, reverse engineering;
* Robot simulation and visualization tools;
* Tele-autonomous systems;
* Micro electromechanical robots;
* Robot control architectures;
* Robot planning, communication, adaptation and learning;
* Mechanical design;
* Robot soccer;
* Evolutionary Robotics;
* Robots for robotic surgery and rehabilitation;
* Micro/nano robotics, new Devices and materials for robots;
* Recognition and synthesis of voice and natural language generation;
* Education issues in robotics.
* Computing architectures;
* Sensor Networks, architectures of embedded Hardware and software;
* Self-Localization, Mapping and Navigation;
* Multi-robot systems;
* Aerial vehicles;
* Mobile robot platforms;
* Underwater robots.

Paper Submission and Review
***************************

Papers can be written in English or in Portuguese and must not exceed
10 pages (WTDR) and 12 pages (CTDR), including title, abstract, all
tables, figures, and references. Over length submissions will be
rejected without review. Authors should use the style file of
Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes. More detailed information can be found
at: www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-2-72376-0
We expect submission of papers to WTDR with research purposes and
appropriate motivation, literature review, and methods. Results
(preliminary, at least) are desirable, but not necessary. Submission
to CTDR expects papers with concluded work, with evaluation and
results.
Papers should include the following information in the first page
after the abstract: student level (MSc or PhD) and expected date of
conclusion or the date of conclusion (CTDR). Authors must also
indicate in the first page if the submission should be considered in
CTDR. In addition, include the name of the advisor (and co-advisors)
as co-authors.
Submissions violating the formatting guidelines will be excluded from
the reviewing process.
Papers must be submitted using the JEMS system: https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/
(Select SBR/LARS 2012 conference and then WTDR/CTDR track)
Only papers in pdf format will be accepted.
Papers may be accepted for oral or poster presentation. All WTDR/CTDR
accepted papers will be published in CD-ROM proceedings.
At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered and
attend the conference to present the work. We recommend that the
students present their works, as the events may be a valuable
experience for them.
