Dr. Moreno has a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan; a M.Sc. in Mathematical Modeling from the School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getúlio Vargas (2021); a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF); and a Ba. in Electronics Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA). He holds a joint appointment as a Professor of Management Information Systems in Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and Faculdades Ibmec, Brazil. He was a visiting faculty at the German Graduate School of Management and Law (GGS), Germany, and at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). In Faculdades Ibmec, he was the head of the graduate programs in Business Administration and Economics until 2016, of the undergraduate program in Business Administration until 2010, and of the undergraduate program in Information Systems until 2005. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on strategic information systems, Data Science and quantitative methods, and Business Process Management (BPM). Dr. Moreno has published more than 80 papers in international conferences proceedings and peer-reviewed journals and advised over 70 graduate theses. He has also been involved in consulting and executive education activities for organizations such as Ernst & Young, Petrobras, Bradesco Seguros, SHV, Endesa, and the United Nations Development Programme (PNUD). His research interests are centered on two main topics: the impact of information systems on organizations and their members, and the effective design and management of business processes. Lately, he has done research on the influence of knowledge-related, managerial, and IT resources and capabilities on the performance of business processes and firm competitiveness, and developed applications of Machine Learning in different areas. He has been awarded state and federal government research grants to study the antecedents of innovativeness and competitiveness of small software developers in Brazil.
